The Wait House VIlla
A private villa taking shape at the north end of the garden.
For years the north end of the garden was where we kept the frangipani cuttings. This season it is a building site — in the best possible way.
What we are building
One bedroom, an open living pavilion, and a plunge pool set back into the planting so it never overlooks the cottage rooms. The idea is not to make Wait Garden bigger. It is to give a couple or a small family the run of a whole house while keeping the same seven rooms, the same garden pool, and the same family running it.
Why we are building it
Guests kept asking for somewhere to stay a fortnight rather than three nights — somewhere with a kitchen, a door that closes on the rest of the property, and space to leave a book face-down for a week. The villa is that.
